Wire forming machinery
Wire forming machines include CNC spring coilers, multi-formers, and bending centers for producing compression, tension, torsion springs, custom-shaped parts, and complex 3D wire forms. They are used in automotive, medical, electronics, and consumer goods industries for high-precision, high-volume wire component manufacturing.

Wire forming is the process, where wire from a coil or blank length is forming or bending into a specific configuration. It can be achieved by a manual method of brute force applied to bending the wire around controlled shapes, or by special machinery to manipulate the wire to the needed shapes. Although there are many types of wire forming, will focus’s on few main types of specialized machine tools what are used in production wire forming.
Cam-type wire bending, coiling and forming machinery.
Early CAM operated machines required extensive setup, many trial runs and scrapped parts and large quantities make it all that setup worthwhile. Now, with adding CNC technology into CAM-type machines, wire forming process comes much faster and easy. But anyway, this types of wire forming machines still need cums adjusting and settings, some trial runs and good skills of the operator.
Camless-type wire bending, coiling and forming machinery.
In general, the technology of camless machines is based on cam technology - here the cam system is replaced by independent servo-drives for each axis. As a result, all machine tool setup is all done through CNC, without mechanical setup and calibration. This greatly simplifies the work with equipment and increases its speed.
Turning-type (lathe-type) wire bending, coiling and forming machinery.
The oldest technology of mechanical wire forming, which consists in winding wire on a rotating mandrel. Often for these purposes, lathes are used, or lathe-based special coiling machines. Simple compression and torsion springs are made in this way.
